While in Kisumu, you can use the notorious boda boda (bicycle taxi), matatus (minivan-bus), tuktuks, buses, or you can rent a car, as well as Hail-A-Taxi using the various smartphone operated taxi apps currently available in the city.

transportation costs range from as small as KShs 30 bob for a short distance of less than 5 kms, to whatever your budget depending on the distance and destination of your travel.

One can also easily access the city of Kisumu via long distance buses to the city, or fly through to the Kisumu International Airport.

The old railway line, will be also be upgraded soon to provide connection to the other cities and towns through the Standard Gauge Railway that is currently being laid from Mombasa, Nairobi and now in Naivasha and destined to this lakeside city.

The city can also be accessed via Lake Victoria through boats. This is the only city in Kenya that can be accessed in the whole of East Africa through all modes of transport – Air, Land and Water (Planes, Road, Rail, Boats & Ships).
